(17-20th Nov. 2014) in Farhangian University

 

In continuous to the policy of development emphasized by the head of the university, Prof. Dr. Mehrmohammadi, the Chair of Scientific cooperations and International Relations of Farhangian University in collaboration with the Deputy of Monitoring, Evaluation and Quality Assurance have come up to a single decision to organize the First International Seminar and Workshop on English Language Teacher Education. As such, Prof. Dr. Jack C. Richards accepted our invitation and joined us on the agenda.

 

A Two-day Seminar was held (17-18 Nov 2014) in Farhangian University in which several panelists were fruitfully discussed the objectives and stated their view points. The panelists’ major frame of reference captured global and local issues of English Language Teaching. The seminar participants were from all universities and from different institutes relevant to language teaching and teacher education.

 

Workshop (19-20th Nov 2014) was exclusively organized for academic members and lecturers of Farhangian University which was fully participated by the target population. Prof. Dr. Jack C. Richards was the special guest and the keynote speaker of the conference (17-20th Nov. 2014) in Farhangian University.

 

The seminar included five major issues as follows:

 

1-Trends in teacher development and language teaching

2- Implementing professional development: institutional and teacher perspectives

3- The expert language teacher: knowledge and competency

4- Teaching speaking: curriculum strategies

5- Curriculum development revisited

 

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Mehrmohammadi (the acting president of Farhangian University), was the first lecturer of the seminar . Several Iranian specialists and experts were in the panel discussions.
