“A Great Task in a Fast-Paced World”
A word by the Acting President of FTEU: “A Great Task in a Fast-Paced World”
A wide variety of approaches have been adopted by the Iranian teacher education centers over the past decades, but many concerns have been voiced by the authorities and scholars of education about the inadequacy of teachers and human resources involved in education.Whatever the reason, Iran is currently suffering from a shortage of teachers quantitatively and qualitatively, and now there is a dire need to reform the situation.
Who is to blame is not our concern in this critical moment. As the well-known Arab poet Mahmoud Darwish has beautifully said: "We have no time even to die." Now, it is time for excellence, and chance creation. On the other hand, we are not going to impose specific ideas on how to manage the crisis of the Ministry of Education in its shortage of teachers and the dire need for educating well-qualified and competent teachers. All innovative ideas are warmly welcomed.
I am delighted to announce that during my three-month terms of presidency in Farhangian Teacher Education University, the meetings I had with the authorities of the country led me to the conclusion that the common concern of all political factions is empowering the teacher education centers and educating well-qualified and competent teachers. This consensus view is indicative of the fact that educating well-qualified and competent teachers is of paramount importance for the future of our children.
The strong support for FTEU by the authorities, especially the Supreme Leader, and the Minister of Education, is a ray of hope and promising for getting out of the status quo towards a desired situation. This task requires an all-out effort by all colleagues. Many a time, I have remarked that it is an honor and pleasure for us to play a part in the education system and FTEU. No doubt, it requires a non-stop diligence and a well-orchestrated team. The hope and cheerfulness brought about among the FTEU staff in the past three months is our prime capital for doing hard tasks.
I invite all of you noble members of FTEU family across the country to join hands in making positive changes in this university which is the main concern of the Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic of Iran and also a wish by all authorities of the Ministry of Education, especially the respectable Minister himself.
With the best wishes
Hossein Khnifar
The Acting President of FTEU
