"We need to recognize content education as a science"

 

At the National Conference on Pedagigical-Content-Knowledge of Religious Education and Quran held by FTEU in Qom province, Dr. Saki, the vice president for Research and Technology said: "The identification of effective teachers depends on the effectiveness of education."

Stating that education should be acknowledged as a science, he emphasized that education as a science will lead to further efforts in especial and technical fields. he declared that research will not be improved in specialized fields unless the knowledge of education be considered as a science.

Dr. Saki noted that FTEU is to develop techer education, and teacher education should focus on  science education.

Referring to the differences between learning the knowledge of chemistry and the knowledge of teching chemistry, he added: "Teachers' competencies can be developed through teaching studies."

Dr. Saki also referred to the five areas of knowledge that one must pay attention if they want to become a teacher: "Human beings grow up through education, and this is the first  qualification of a teacher."

He recognized the second knowledge required by the teacher as PCK and said: Access to educational tools and technology knowledge are other things that the teacher should be equipped with.

Dr. Saki emphasized the need to be equipped with the environmental knowledge and said:"the teacher needs the competency of PCK, which is based on the combination of the four previous knowledge and research.

Dr. Saki,reported that FTEU efforts to to strengthen PCK field by supporting research, translation of books and  holding conferences and workshops
