Dr. Mohammad Reza Sarkar Arani: "Too much emphasis on number of published articles as a criteria of being an instructor in Teacher Education universities is not accepted".
Dr. Mohammad Reza Sarkar Arani, in his speech given in the meeting of Directors' Council of FTEU, criticized too much emphasis on number of published articles as a criteria of being an instructor in teacher Education universities
In this meeting, Dr. Arani,a professor from Nagoya University in Japan and a researcher in Teacher Education field, categorized universities in three groups including commercial, academic and state. He declared that simce FTEU is a state university government athorities are convinced to support it.
Comparing Teacher Education in Iran and Japan, Dr. Arani said, "Japan government emphasizes on establishing a university with a specific teacher education mission to prepares university student for teacging in schools." According to Sarkar Arani, Japanese believe that producing high-quality products depends on competent human resource, however, educating such human resource is not an easy task.
Arani said that the Japanese professors usually pay attention to environmental evidence to find out the problems, and assume that if a part of the system does not work properly, the rest of the system is likely to have such problems."
Dr. Sarkaranani also criticized too much emphasis on number of published articles as a criteria of being an instructor in Teacher Education Universities. He stated that the number of published articles wont solve any problem in teacher education system, in otherv words, number of articles as a criteria should be replaced by teacher education-related factors such as three years of school management experience that is so popular in Japan.
