Considering the importance of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Education agenda for post 2015, the Education Department of the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO announced that 13 projects of the IR of Iran are registered on UNESCO 's website on Global Action Programme (GAP). In general, 13 projects out of the 17 defined projects were accepted. Most of the accepted projects were proposed by Farhangian University whose participation in GAP was greatly appreciated by the Education Department of the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO. This is therefore, to set the grounds for sharing of ESD knowledge in Iran by the leading position and role of Farhangian University.

Subjects of projects defined for the Global Action Programme on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and their submitting institutions

1- To revise the formal teacher education curricula in pre-service programmes, in the light of the implication of sustainable development;
2- To organize annual expert meetings considering lifelong learning as a dimension of sustainable development;
3- To organize a practical workshop on ESD issues in cooperation with all related entities;
4-To develop issues related to teachers and teacher-students
5- To develop and enhance e-learning and mobile learning opportunities for ESD and to collaborate with governmental organizations and NGOs and other stakeholders at national level;
6- To establish an exemplary green teacher-education centre in the coming 5 years.
