Third Scientific Meeting of International Conference on Quran and Prophet Life Studies from European Perspectives, Bamberg Islamic Encyclopedia Project
The third scientific meeting of the International Conference on Quranic and Prophetic Life studies from the European Perspective, namely the Bamberg Islamic Encyclopedia Project, was held on December 5th, 2023, on an online platform. Prof. Patrick Franke, the professor of Islamic Studies at Bamberg University, Germany, the director of the Bamberg Islamic Encyclopedia Project, and a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Quranic and Prophetic Life studies from the European Perspective, made a speech in English which was interpreted in Farsi. Having written about 500 articles since 2013, Prof. Franke has founded an innovative path to improving stable information on Islam on the German Wikipedia webpage. He has presented the information in Bamberg Islamic Encyclopedia (BIE).
The ultimate goal of BIE is to set a new comprehensive German reference on Islam with the qualitative criteria of an academic encyclopedia.
About this international event, Dr. Hossein Omidi, the director of the international affairs of Farhangian Teacher Education University, stated that approximately seven million Muslims live in Germany, Austria, and the German-speaking region of Switzerland, therefore there is a necessity for information on Islam in this language area
