Expert meeting session with the participation of Dr. Ahamad Fatehi , professor emeritus of Mathematics Education at Texas State University was held in Farhangian University on March 17, 2015. The pivotal rationale behind the meeting was originally to create opportunity for scholars to evaluate their own conceptions of the field and to disseminate their novel pedagogical as well as axiomatic knowledge. To enhance knowledge sharing tradition for developmental purposes, Farhangian University has always put emphasis on appreciating local as well as global knowledge.
Professor Mahmoud Mehr Mohammadi was the first speaker of the meeting who welcomed all and let them state their questions, views, and propose remedial solutions to the current challenges in the filed of mathematics in teacher education centers as well as other relevant areas such as schools from primary to high schools. Serious words were articulated which were responded by Dr. Fatehi. In general, reconceptualization of the issue of mathematics was seriously requested and a careful alternation and manipulation in the area of current curriculum in teacher education was proposed by Dr. Fatehi. He stated that, “We need a kind of curriculum, base on which teachers’ cognitions with respect to methodology of mathematics would be altered. Such a change must capture more focus on concept realization than content memorization.”
A good deal of hot debates were argued and instructive suggestions were exchanged among expert participants. This meeting which was initiated at 10 am and terminated at 12.30 was interpreted, by the participants, as an effective event.
