Sahraei Raised Issue of the Cognitive Gap between Students and Authorities as Alarming for Education System
At the First National Conference of Governance of Education System at Farhangian Teacher Education University (FTEU), Reza Morad Sahraei, the deputy of support in Mostazafan Foundation, appreciated the former ministers of education who played key roles in the development of the education system of Iran.
He stated that the distinction between governance and management is an accepted scientific concept that is clearly visible in the education field. He explained that governance refers to the framework, policy, and procedures of leading a system to answer the question about what to do, while management mostly refers to how everything must be implemented. A responsibility of the governors in this field is to prioritize the issues and differentiate the key issues from trivial ones.
He pointed out the cognitive and conceptual gap between the stakeholders of the education system and said that, based on a recent study, the viewpoint of teachers, principals, and parents was almost consistent. However, the students’ viewpoints were considerably different. It is the signal of a serious gap which can be alarming for the future education system of the country if it remains ignored.
Sahraei clarified the universal challenges of the education system into three major ones: equitable access to education, digitalization, and educational justice.
Eventually, he iterated that consistency among all the pillars of the education system is of great significance, and all the resources and facilities must be employed to strengthen the system of education so that there might not be any barriers on the way.
