Education Commission Meeting with Farhangian Teacher Education University (FTEU) Authorities: Path to Development of Country Passes through FTEU
The meeting on concerns, challenges, and problems of FTEU was held in the presence of the Education, Research, and Technology Commission members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the university authorities.
Farshad Ebrahimpour, the deputy of the commission, praising the teacher’s position, stated that he appreciated the efforts of the authorities of FTEU and that the university, as the main factor in training human resources for the education system of the country, is respected by all authorities, and all opportunities have been taken for the highest level of support for FTEU. He added that teacher recruitment is exclusively assigned to be conducted by FTEU, and it is emphasized to reinforce the infrastructure of the university. He also pointed out that the strategic path to the development of the country passes through FTEU, so the role of FTEU is irreplaceable in this regard.
Another member of the commission, Abdul Vahid Fayyazi, said that there are high expectations from FTEU in the area of education, and added that the gap between the university and the predicted educational goals must be followed up, and the performance of FTEU is partly attributable to the cooperation between the government and the parliament. He stated that the concerns and challenges would partly be relieved by building schools in a collaboration between FTEU and school-building benefactors.
Ramezan Rahimi Dashtlouei, a member of the commission, considered FTEU to be aligned with the standards of the Islamic Revolution. He stated that we should accept the idea that teaching is not a profession but an art, and the teachers of FTEU must be trained according to up-to-date science, technology, and facilities. He emphasized that the government, particularly the Minister of Education, should take advantage of its maximum opportunities to solve the problems of the university.
Seyyed Abolhassan Mostafavi Ghamam also said that a logical decision must be made about the admissible age to FTEU since it is a concern of the university candidates so that skillful and knowledgeable teachers will graduate from the university.
Hossein Haghverdi pointed out the complaint of student-teachers about the high rate of deductions, the issue raised on the academic level of some professors of FTEU, and the problem of having double degrees caused by having graduated from two distinct universities. He added that it is essential for the chancellor of FTEU to attend the meetings of the Supreme Council of Education.
Ali Khazaei emphasized that any investment in education is an investment in the future of the country. Therefore, FTEU is the main axis of education that can train standard teachers in line with the goals for which the enemies of our country are fighting.
Seyyed Hassan Hashemi pointed out the significance of Persian Language and preserving it, as well as the importance of paying attention to the promotion of academics, improvement in their salaries, and building better educational spaces and dormitories.
Fatemeh Jarareh also considered student dormitories to be an important issue of the university and expressed concern about human resources, specifically out of Tehran.
Mohammad Reza Ahmadi stated that the output of FTEU must be assessed scientifically and morally. He said that FTEU is undoubtedly of special significance for the education commission; we must make amendments to the root of problems, i.e., education, in order to solve them.
