Capacity of Farhangian Teacher Education University (FTEU) to Implement Memorandums of Understanding between Ministry of Education of Iran and Ministries of Qatar and Iraq

Hossein Omidi, the head of the Directorate for International Affairs of FTEU, pointed out the memorandums of understanding (MoU) signed between the Ministry of Education of Iran, the Ministry of Higher Education of Qatar, and the Ministry of Education of Iraq throughout the trip of Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, the 14th president of Iran, to the above-mentioned countries. He talked about the MoUs and the capacity for international interactions at FTEU:

FTEU, as the largest teacher education university in the world in the number of student-teachers and geographical distribution, has planned to implement the mentioned memorandums of understanding through some noble measurements, including 1) Establishment of the Association of Teacher Education Universities in the Islamic World, 2) an International Conference for Superior Teaching in Islamic countries, 3) International Competitions for memorizing and recitation of the Holy Quran in Islamic countries, 4) Compiling an encyclopedia of teacher education systems in Islamic countries with the membership in ISESCO, and 5) International sports competitions for student-teachers from ISESCO members

In addition, regarding the capacity of FTEU as the representative of teacher education in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the importance of teacher training, and the necessity of interaction development with the neighboring countries, particularly Qatar and Iraq, the university will be able to take actions in the following areas, based on the clauses of the memorandums of understanding:

  • Facilitating the development of inter-university interactions in education areas, focusing on joint comparative research, supported by FTEU and the Universities of Teacher Education in Qatar and Iraq (Clause 1)
  • Sharing the achievements, innovations, and findings in the specialized area of teacher education through joint events (Clause 2)
  • Facilitating the organization of online, in-person, and hybrid short-term courses to empower the professors of the teacher education system via the capacities of FTEU and the Universities of Teacher Education in Qatar and Iraq (Clause 3)
  • Strengthening the infrastructure of teaching Persian and Arabic language for better interaction and synergy between Iranian, Qatari, and Iraqi professors and student-teachers through inter-university social media andonline platforms (Clause 3)
