Visiting Evaluation Center of Candidates for Admission to Farhangian Teacher Education University (FTEU), Minister of Education Explained:
500,000 Candidates for the Nationwide University Entrance Exam are Applicants for Participation in FTEU
Explaining the process of supplementary evaluation of the applicants of FTEU, the Minister of Education stated: “Among the 900,000 candidates for the nationwide university entrance exam, 500,000 have applied to attend FTEU, and 72,000 applicants from these candidates were accepted for supplementary evaluation.”
According to the report by the Public Relations Department of FTEU, quoted from the Information and Public relations Center of the Ministry of Education, Alireza Kazemi, the Minister of Education, today, Saturday, July 21 conversing with professors and candidates during the visit to the evaluation center for candidates entering FTEU stated: "During today's visit to the supplementary evaluation process, we received reports from professors and candidates that are commendable because this process is being carried out with utmost precision and care."
He emphasized that there should be no issues during the evaluation of candidates and added: "FTEU has always been well-received due to its status and position, as students with high rankings prefer this university over others for various reasons".
The Minister of Education stated: “This issue is considered as an opportunity for education, because among numerous demands, the best are selected.”
Kazemi emphasized that “this year, out of 900,000 candidates for the university entrance exam, 500,000 candidates have applied to attend FTEU. We have also considered three times more than the capacity for the recruitment and evaluation stages.”
He noted that “this year, the capacity of FTEU is 27,000, and according to the law, three times that number, meaning 72,000, will be selected out of the best in academic ranking to be recruited after the evaluation stages.”
The Minister of Education emphasized that the acceptance of candidates is not solely dependent on the evaluation center, stating that “the evaluation of this center is only part of the scoring process for candidates entering FTEU. 50 percent of this score is related to the definitive impact of the GPA, 25 percent is related to educational background and the national entrance exam score, and the remaining 25 percent depends on the evaluation center. Ultimately, the outcome of these four stages determines who can become a student at this university.
He emphasized that anyone who wants to become a teacher and takes on the responsibility of educating students must be among the best in academic performance, behavior, values, and public norms of the society.
The Minister of Education pointed out that we entrust the best assets to the teachers, adding that it is essential to select the most deserving candidates for teaching out of the applicants so that we can confidently entrust our children to them.
Kazemi emphasized that FTEU has always been a focus of the Supreme Leader, stating: "This university is one of the most important sectors of education. Our effort is to strengthen this university, and therefore we have prioritized resolving its issues."
He stressed the importance of increasing the academic level of the university by attracting faculty members and said: "We are seeking to recruit young and specialized professors in the academic and educational fields."
The Minister of Education clarified: "Last year, about a thousand permissions for faculty recruitment were obtained, and the recruitment process is underway. Approximately 2,700 positions for faculty and non-faculty members have also been secured for this university through negotiations with the government."
Kazemi mentioned: "The budget for this university has also increased, and we hope that positive developments occur at this university."
