Student-Teacher Affairs Deputy Outlines Key Preparations for the New Academic Year
In an interview with the Public Relations Office of Farhangian Teacher Education University (FTEU) on Saturday, August 30, 2025, Dr. Vahid Alamian, Deputy for Student-Teacher Affairs, announced a wide range of initiatives aimed at enhancing student life, welfare services, skill development, and dormitory conditions for the upcoming academic year.
Dr. Alamian emphasized that the deputy’s top priorities include improving the quality of residential life for student-teachers, upgrading welfare services, and expanding access to health, counseling, and sports programs. “We have developed a comprehensive plan to ensure these goals are met,” he stated.
Regarding dormitory and nutrition improvements, he noted that the per capita space in student rooms has increased compared to last year, and food menus across all campuses are now monitored in real time to ensure quality and variety.
In the area of sports infrastructure, Dr. Alamian reported that fitness and wellness rooms have been established nationwide, while artificial turf fields and indoor sports halls are being equipped to meet the expectations of student-teachers.
He also highlighted the expansion of counseling and student insurance services: “Starting this academic year, all student-teachers will be covered by student insurance, and every campus will host active counseling rooms to address psychological and educational needs.”
On the topic of empowerment and skill-learning, Dr. Alamian explained that the deputy is responsible for organizing advanced teaching workshops and life skills training, including anger management, social communication, and modern educational technologies. Special programs in Quranic education and professional development are also underway.
In terms of research and academic monitoring, he stated that student-teachers are being tracked across cultural, research, and educational dimensions, with top performers nominated as exemplary students to the Ministry of Science. FTEU has consistently ranked first in the number of exemplary undergraduate students in recent years.
Addressing challenges for the new academic year, Dr. Alamian pointed to dormitory space limitations and affirmed that efforts are underway—through collaboration with the Ministry of Education, provincial departments, and local authorities—to provide well-equipped and suitable housing for student-teachers.
He also stressed the importance of student participation in decision-making, citing student councils and online feedback platforms as key tools for listening to student voices and responding to their concerns.
Among the new initiatives, Dr. Alamian announced the launch of integrated systems for housing, nutrition, sports, and counseling. He added that roommate compatibility criteria—based on ethics, behavior, and academic background—have been defined to foster a peaceful and orderly living environment.
Looking ahead, Dr. Alamian described the deputy’s vision as elevating FTEU’s standing within the national education system. “FTEU already holds the leading position in teacher education, and with continued expansion of welfare, academic, and skill-building services, it will soon become one of the country’s top-tier universities—attracting students and faculty from across Iran.”
