On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Hossein Omidi, Director of International Affairs at FTEU, met with Seyyed Ali Mousavizadeh, Deputy for International Affairs at the Saadi Foundation, to discuss the establishment of an International Center for Teaching Persian to Non-Persian Speakers (AZFA) at FTEU.

At the outset of the meeting, Omidi emphasized that FTEU’s overarching strategic goal is to achieve academic prominence in Islamic education both in the region and throughout the Islamic world. He noted that under the leadership of Dr. Rajab Ali Borzooei, the university has prioritized transformational international policies and is determined to take significant steps on the global stage. Omidi highlighted the university’s considerable capacity to contribute to the promotion of the Persian language, citing its experienced and highly qualified faculty members in the field of Persian. He acknowledged, however, that the Saadi Foundation’s expertise and achievements in this area are well recognized, making such meetings highly valuable for paving the way for growth and advancement in this domain. Omidi also noted the potential benefits of utilizing AZFA textbooks and placement tests, areas in which the Saadi Foundation could provide substantial support.

Seyyed Ali Mousavizadeh, whose distinguished career includes posts such as Advisor to the Chancellor of the Saadi Foundation, Director of AZFA International Publications, Director General of Evaluation at the Organization for Islamic Culture and Relations, Deputy Director of Al-Hoda International Publications, and previously serving as Cultural Attaché in Qatar, Syria, and Russia as well as Cultural Counselor in Oman, expressed appreciation for the presence of the university’s International Affairs Director at this session. Mousavizadeh stressed that expanding the presence of the Persian language internationally is a national priority highlighted by the Supreme Leader. Welcoming the proposal for collaboration with FTEU, he expressed hope that this initiative would be implemented in the near future and that AZFA classes would soon be held at FTEU.
