Farhangian University and State Welfare Organization Sign Memorandum of Understanding
On Tuesday, September 23, 2025 (Mehr 1, 1404), Farhangian University and the State Welfare Organization of Iran signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in a ceremony attended by Dr. Rajab Ali Borzooei, University Chancellor, and Dr. Seyyed Javad Hosseini, Head of the Welfare Organization.
Dr. Borzooei highlighted the Welfare Organization’s vital role in social affairs and described the MoU as an important step towards promoting educational and social justice. He outlined recent university achievements, including:
- * Increased capital and development budgets
- * Establishment of 31 provincial universities and one national university
- * Government approval of 2,500 new university posts
- * Development of a dedicated academic promotion framework
- * Upgrade of 12 university journals to scientific-research status
- * Contracts for AI-supported simulated laboratory environments
- * Expansion of cultural, religious, and recreational programs
- * Equipping 60 centers with fitness rooms and sports halls
Dr. Borzooei further stressed the close relationship between social issues and education, proposing performance indicators to guide student-teacher engagement in social initiatives and the use of the university’s platform for interdisciplinary projects and research sabbaticals.
In his remarks, Dr. Hosseini marked the start of the academic year, describing schools as centers of social transformation. He introduced the “SALAAM” initiative, aimed at improving social well-being in schools, which includes:
- * Free student talent assessments
- * Community-based rehabilitation programs
- * Free eye exams and eyeglasses for underprivileged students
- * Alignment with the Fundamental Reform Document of Education
Dr. Hosseini emphasized Farhangian University’s strategic role in national reform and encouraged student-teachers and faculty members to participate in the national volunteer network, calling volunteer work a practical foundation for developing well-rounded, professionally competent teachers.
The main components of the MoU are:
- Formation of a student-teacher volunteer network for social and charitable activities
- Involvement of student-teachers in educational, advisory, and mentoring programs for disadvantaged students
- Academic and research collaboration between the two institutions
- Sustained student engagement throughout different life stages, including middle and older ages
- Promotion of social responsibility among student-teachers
