Deputy for Education: Establishment of Provincial Universities is the Largest Structural Transformation since Farhangian University’s Foundation

Farhad Alipour, Deputy for Education and Graduate Studies, described the new structure —establishing 31 provincial universities— as the most significant transformation in the history of Farhangian University. He emphasized that this will improve educational quality, expand graduate programs, and enhance the authority of provincial universities.

In an interview with the university public relations office, Alipour thanked government agencies for their support. Under the new structure, provincial branches will gain independent status, and their chancellors will assume greater authority over academic and research affairs. This, he said, will streamline processes, speed up decisions, and improve efficiency.

Alipour added that faculty members’ positions will now be categorized and ranked, enabling program expansion, especially at the graduate level. Reorganized academic groups across provinces will also raise quality and competitiveness with other leading Iranian universities.

Despite limited infrastructure like dormitories and libraries, Alipour said the university is investing in digital resources and artificial intelligence, and that the recruitment of 1,000 new faculty members will help stabilize the student-to-faculty ratio.

He explained that while national centralized policy and oversight will be strengthened, most executive responsibility will shift to provincial universities. Although adapting to this new system will take time, he expects most challenges to be resolved quickly.

Alipour concluded: “Implementing this structure is a major step toward realizing the goals of the Fundamental Reform Document of Education and equipping graduates with multi-dimensional skills for the evolving needs of Iran’s education system.”
