Farhangian University Statement on "13th Aban" (Student Day and National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance)
O you who have believed, if you fear Allah, He will grant you a criterion and will remove from you, your misdeeds and forgive you. And Allah is the possessor of great bounty.” (Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 29)
On the anniversary of 13th Aban, Farhangian University, as an institution committed to nurturing the ambassadors of knowledge and dedication in tomorrow’s Islamic Iran, reaffirms the nation’s enduring call for insight and resistance against arrogance.
This significant day, rooted in long-standing struggles against colonialism and dictatorship and reaching its peak with the historic takeover of the U.S. embassy by students on 13th Aban 1358, remains a symbol of the inseparable link between religious aspirations and patriotism. Iranian students have constantly led this movement, which empowers our sense of responsibility today.
13th Aban underscores the reality that true national independence relies on rejecting dependence on domineering powers and relying on the strength of the nation’s own enlightened youth.
The university recalls that struggles prior to the Revolution, especially student protests against puppet regimes, formed the cornerstone of the revolutionary spirit—culminating, under Imam Khomeini’s leadership, in the occupation and closure of the region’s main center of conspiracy.
As Iran’s primary teacher-training institution, Farhangian University pledges to nurture a new generation of teachers who are scientifically grounded, revolutionary in outlook, and resistant to Western propaganda and misinformation, championing truth and justice by invoking the spirit of those transformative days.
The university’s mission, in accordance with the ideals of the Islamic Revolution’s Second Step statement, is to invest in intellectual and ethical capacities, ensuring that future teachers are critical thinkers, impervious to foreign cultural and ideological penetration, and ambassadors of justice, particularly for the oppressed—most notably the people of Palestine.
In the face of the ongoing atrocities perpetrated by the Zionist regime with U.S. support in Gaza—highlighted by a 12-day war resulting in the loss of the lives of many, including students, teachers, and faculty—our responsibility as educators is greater than ever.
13th Aban serves as a rallying cry for resistance against global domination and unwavering support for the oppressed. Farhangian University believes the spirit of anti-arrogance now echoes far beyond Iran, heralding mass anti-imperialist movements worldwide and sharing a global longing for justice. We are committed to instilling this international solidarity in our students as part of the broader drive for equitable global order.
The university reaffirms its commitment to Imam Khomeini’s high ideals and our martyrs’ sacrifices, stressing that the struggle against oppression and foreign influence is the most important lesson of 13th Aban. This core principle must be interwoven into our institution’s educational strategies to nurture generations resistant to all forms of political, economic, and cultural domination, carrying forward the call for justice and standing with the world’s oppressed.
We believe today’s educational investment is the foundation for realizing the Revolution’s ideals of development and justice tomorrow. Science and faith will remain our principal tools for confronting global arrogance. We vow to ensure Farhangian University remains the main center for training teachers who not only impart knowledge but also instill resilience and independence in future generations.
