Objectives

Generally, the purpose of the Chair is to promote an integrated system of research, training, information and documentation on teacher development. It facilitates collaboration between high-level, internationally-recognized researchers and teaching staff of the University and other institutions in the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as elsewhere in Asia and Pacific and in other regions of the world. The specific objectives of this Chair are to:

⦁    Design and implement teacher development programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels as a means of enhancing quality of education
⦁    Provide short-term training and foster the exchange of faculty and students
⦁    Undertake research, jointly with partners, to advance knowledge and practice regarding teacher development, as well as to inform the development and implementation of lifelong learning policies for teachers
⦁    Establish and maintain a network of teachers and teacher training institutions from the country and the region to foster cooperation in the field of teacher development
⦁    Serve as a platform for knowledge sharing. For this purpose, create and maintain a dedicated web, organize conferences and workshops, and publish and disseminate broadly a newsletter on teacher training, research studies and other publications
⦁    Collaborate with relevant UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks; and,
⦁    Cooperate closely with UNESCO on relevant programmes and activities
