Educational technology competencies are essential for teaching profession
The Sixth Expert and Scientific Meeting under the rubric of “The New Approaches to Educational Technology” was held with the presence of Deputy of Research and Technology at the Administrative Building of Farhangian University on 16 September 2015. Dr. Saki, Deputy of Research, said at the meeting that “… educational technology competencies are essential for teaching profession” and emphasized on the need to earn such merits by teacher students. He also explained that educational technology competencies include general as well as specialized competencies and grounded on such speculation, teachers and teacher students, in addition to basic skills in the use of technology, should be commensurate with the range of field related issues to take advantage of the technology associated. Dr. Saki pointed to the document provided for technology training, and said that “… new developments in the curriculum are in line with the general and specific needs of teacher students in these technologies. Dr. Shahnaz Zoulfonoon (Lotfipoor), educational technology specialist and professor at the University of California, as the invited speaker described new approaches and applicable educational technologies in education and schools and their relevant challenges. She pointed to the efficiency of schools as a good provision and necessary condition for the effective application of these technologies. She also stated that”… through the involvement and assistance of such technologies teaching and learning capabilities in the classrooms would be significantly increased.
