The role of a teacher requires spirit for research activities
The Second National Conference on Research Development (known as Pooyesh National Conference) aimed at developing research culture among student teachers was held in Urmia. The conference included participants from Farhangian University, teacher education institutions, education officials, and policy makers. Dr. Saki (Deputy of Research and Technology of Farhangian University), Nader Ghazipour (Representative of Urmia in the Parliament), campus and provincial administrators, Director of Education of West Azerbaijan province, and 300 student teachers from around the country participated in the conference. Dr. Fozonmehr (Director of Farhangian University campuses in West Azerbaijan province) welcomed the participants and gave a full report on the plans of the province for the conference. Then, Mr. Nader Ghazipour pointed to the importance of learning in Islam and highlighted the words of the Supreme Leader of I.R. of Iran in this regard and invited teachers to make greater efforts in training students. Dr. Saki (Deputy of Research and Technology), in remarks, expressed pleasure of holding the second National Conference on Research Development and said: “Student teachers should make effort to gain their own research identity through various university programs. He stated that “… teaching profession requires appropriate power and competence in the field of research”. Dr. Saki declared that it is essential for teachers to equip with inquiring approaches congruent with their needs to manage various phenomena in the teaching and learning domain and this will be achieved by student teachers if adequate efforts are made to obtain the required knowledge and skills in this regard. Ethics of research, character of the researchers in conducting research, and other relevant research issues were introduced as more important factors than the structure of research. Dr. Saki also invited student teachers to focus on features such as ethics and truth-seeking, scientific and logical thinking, non-biased and avoiding unscientific judgements and claims, integrity, respecting scientists and their research results, flexibility, openness of mind to new perspectives.
