President of Farhangian University Issues Message on the Occasion of Teacher’s Day
In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
“Whoever does righteous deeds—whether male or female—while being a believer, we will surely grant them a good and pure life, and We will reward them according to the best of what they used to do.”
(Qur’an, An-Nahl: 97)
Teacher’s Day is a day to honor the heirs of the prophets; a day to revere the pens that write upon the pages of human hearts; and a day to celebrate those noble individuals who carry the light of knowledge from one generation to the next. On this blessed occasion—imbued this year with the spirit of sacrifice, courage, insight, perseverance, and martyrdom—I extend my sincere congratulations and deepest respect to the esteemed community of educators across the country, particularly our distinguished professors, dedicated teachers, and the future‑shaping student‑teachers.
In past years, on this auspicious day, our hearts listened attentively to the wise guidance of our martyred leader regarding the vital role and status of teachers. Over thirteen consecutive years, his profound reflections—alongside his scholarly guidance on matters of education—clarified and reinforced the foundational role of Farhangian University within the national architecture of education. His continuous emphasis on describing this university as the “center of gravity of the educational system” was not merely an administrative characterization; rather, it was a strategic and civilizational definition of its place and mission. It signifies that if this pivotal institution remains strong, dynamic, and progressive, the entire structure of the country’s education system will flourish and endure.
Within the intellectual framework of the Islamic Revolution, a teacher is far more than a transmitter of knowledge. A teacher nurtures the soul, awakens the intellect, and shapes the visible and invisible dimensions of human character. The mission of teaching extends beyond the delivery of concepts to the cultivation of perspectives, the nurturing of virtues, and the construction of the future. With every word spoken, a teacher plants seeds of thought in the fertile soil of young minds; and through every action, offers a living model of how to live.
A classroom, when guided by a faithful and perceptive teacher, becomes a sanctuary of education—where knowledge intertwines with ethics and learning is linked with social responsibility. Such a teacher is not merely an instructor of textbooks, but an interpreter of life itself; not simply a conveyor of information, but a guide who shapes horizons, aspirations, and purpose.
Farhangian University, as the cradle of this great mission, carries a profound responsibility. It must be a place where knowledge is harmرonized with faith, expertise with commitment, and skill with wisdom. When the university is described as the “center of gravity” of the educational system, it reflects the reality that the quality of the nation’s future depends on the quality of teacher education cultivated within this institution. Any investment—scientific, ethical, or cultural—in this field is, in essence, an investment in the future of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
On this occasion, it is also necessary to honor the memory of teachers and student‑teachers who attained martyrdom in the struggles and conflicts faced by the nation, as well as the more than twelve hundred student‑teachers who sacrificed their lives in the path of their ideals. Their names will forever shine upon the horizon of the educational community. Through the ultimate sacrifice of their lives, they demonstrated that teaching is not a profession confined to classrooms and schools, but a comprehensive commitment to truth, dignity, and the independence of the homeland. Their pure blood has added a golden chapter to the history of education in this land and has doubled our responsibility to preserve and continue their path.
In light of the message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei—who has described teachers as the most influential link in the cultural struggle—and considering the increasingly prominent position of the Islamic Republic of Iran both regionally and internationally, the teachers of the future must embody a multidimensional set of capacities.
They must possess profound and up‑to‑date knowledge enabling them to comprehend the rapid transformations of the contemporary world. They must have a deep awareness of the history, culture, and civilization of Islamic Iran in order to strengthen identity and dignity within the new generation. They must uphold a strong foundation in Islamic, educational, and ethical insight so that they serve not merely as instructors, but as living examples of virtuous life. And they must carry a spirit of dedication, hope, and responsibility—serving as a guiding light for their students in times of challenge and change.
Once again, on this great day, while honoring the noble status of teachers, our martyred leader, and the many martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defense of the nation, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to professors, student‑teachers, and the esteemed members of the academic community. I pray to Almighty God to grant all of you success in righteous deeds, steadfastness in the mission of nurturing generations, and the blessing of a “pure and wholesome life.” May Farhangian University always remain a beacon of knowledge, ethics, enlightenment, and human excellence.
In closing, I pray for the health and well‑being of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, and express hope that, with the defeat of the enemies of a strong and independent Iran, the opportunity will soon arise for the distinguished community of educators to meet with him once again and renew our commitment to the lofty ideals of the Revolution and its leadership.
With deepest respect and gratitude,
Rajab‑Ali Borzooei
President, Farhangian University
